CRM construct | Research grounding | What the source supports
Prediction error | Predictive-processing and active-inference accounts, treated as contested rather than as a master theory | Formal models of expectation, mismatch, updating, perception, and action. CRM uses a functional mismatch construct without presuming that one neural theory has been established.
Dissonance pressure | Cognitive dissonance | Motivated pressure to reduce inconsistency.
Meaning gap | Global/situational meaning, meaning in life | Park models discrepancy between global meaning and event appraisal. CRM proposes a broader pressure label that also permits a true commitment to remain; that extension needs its own tests.
Meaning pressure | Narrative identity, sensemaking | Persons and organizations live by meaning frames, often in story form, that guide action.
False resonance | Meaning maintenance, motivated reasoning, identity-protective cognition | People reduce threat through substitute coherence, biased evidence handling, and identity defense.
Source trust | Epistemic vigilance, misinformation and inoculation research | Testimony requires channel assessment, trust calibration, precision discipline, and resistance to manipulation patterns.
Capacity | Stress appraisal, sleep, and social-support findings; trauma-informed-care and psychological-first-aid frameworks | Processing depends on resources, safety, support, timing, and embodied state; the practice frameworks prioritize safe sequencing but do not transfer treatment efficacy to CRM.
Embodied and historical agency | Allostasis, stress adaptation, sleep, learning, and social-support research | Agency is exercised through capacities that change across bodily and relational history; stable performance can be costly compensation rather than health.
Scaffolded agency | Distributed cognition and organizational sensemaking | People remember and act through other people, language, tools, records, routines, and institutions; changing the scaffold can change which truthful actions are practically available.
Trauma boundary | PTSD models, CPT, trauma-effects research, and trauma-informed practice principles | Threat can affect attention, memory, appraisal, and capacity; safety and qualified care matter, and these effects do not by themselves decide the credibility of a report.
Moral and spiritual pressure | Moral injury and religious/spiritual struggle research | Some ruptures involve guilt, shame, betrayal, sacred meaning, conscience, authority, and communion rather than fear alone.
Agency | ACT, CBT/CPT, implementation intentions, repentance/repair practices | Truthful repair requires action, not only insight.
Institutional repair | Sensemaking, normalization of deviance, after-action review, debriefing | Shared meaning frames can block correction; repeated drift can become normal; structured review can improve learning and action.
Facilitator posture | Shared decision-making | Helpers should join evidence, values, uncertainty, and agency without controlling the meaning frame.
Cross-cultural testing | Emic inquiry, Cultural Formulation Interview, test-adaptation guidance, and measurement-invariance research | Begin with local terms and meanings; establish construct equivalence and the required invariance before comparing scores or thresholds across cultures, languages, institutions, illness narratives, or religious settings.
Digital safeguards | LLM mental-health review, psychiatry benchmarks, sycophancy research, AI ethics and governance | AI-assisted reflection requires scope limits, crisis pathways, privacy, accuracy checks, and human review.
Christian architecture | Original-language Scripture, canonical confession, early received witness, and DDF | CRM is a bounded integrative tool inside one created reality: embodied reception, mediated formation, privative corruption, Christ's restoration, Spirit-given participation, and accountable fruit.
Christian discernment and formation | The Didache, 1 Clement, Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, and Athanasius | Teaching is tested by embodied fruit and public confession; persons and communities are formed through practice; reflection becomes prayer, repentance, protection, and life under Christ.
Measurement path | Testing Standards, COSMIN, scale-development best practices, preregistration | Each intended interpretation and use needs evidence; content validity comes first; constructs must be operationalized, tested, and reported openly.
Translation and cultural adaptation | ITC test-adaptation guidance, cognitive interviewing, cultural and bilingual review | Translation must preserve construct meaning, comprehensibility, fairness, and score interpretation rather than merely replace words.
Validation path | MRC complex-intervention guidance | Development should move from theory, feasibility, evaluation, context, safety, and implementation rather than premature deployment.
Research ethics | Belmont Report and human-subjects protections | Studies must honor consent, beneficence, justice, confidentiality, referral, and protection of vulnerable participants.
