# Households of Formation: Source and Conclusion Ledger

Status: public source apparatus for the current V1 manuscript.

Public research hub: https://systemstheology.com/research

Public page: `https://systemstheology.com/research/books/households-of-formation`

Correction path: `https://systemstheology.com/research/feedback`

Central source-text anchors: `docs/research/companion-books-field-source-archive.md#public-text-anchors-for-source-checking`.

DDF reference rule: DDF coverage uses stable canonical claim IDs and named DDF sections, not manuscript line numbers. `DDF Claim 13` means the current canonical claim card; `DDF § Church, Sacrament, and Embodied Communion` means the named argument section in `books/divine-design-framework/main.tex`. Supporting DDF research is named by its full path under `books/divine-design-framework/research/`, and repository-wide controls are named under `docs/`. A household manuscript reference must name the book path or be clearly marked as reader-facing text.

## Publication Rule

Do not load the book manuscript with a large bibliography, footnote apparatus, or research appendix. The reader-facing book should include only a short note pointing to the Systems Theology research hub.

This ledger keeps the recoverable trail for household, church, care, youth, and formation conclusions.

## Warrant Order

1. Original-language Scripture governs the claim.
2. DDF supplies the controlling Systems Theology interpretation and scope gate.
3. Apostolic and ante-Nicene witness tests continuity.
4. Nicene and later fathers may support where clearly marked.
5. Rethinking Reality may supply organizational language already aligned with DDF.
6. Contemporary research does not generate doctrine; it governs empirical, developmental, clinical, safety, and outcome premises within its competence.

| Ordinary conflict, harmful patterns, abuse or coercive control, and immediate danger require different responses; repair language must stop when it would conceal danger, preserve access, or return the harmed person to control. | `DDF § Clinical Reality, Trauma, Addiction, and Anomalous Experience`; `DDF § Marriage, Family, Singleness, and Household Formation`; `DDF Claim 31`; `docs/resources/trauma-referral-guardrails.md`; `docs/resources/repair-language-guide.md` | Psalm 82; Ezekiel 34; Matthew 18; Mark 10; Ephesians 5-6; Greek `phylasso`, `exousia`, `metanoia`, `karpos`; Hebrew `mishpat`, `emet`, `ra'ah` | `Didache`; `1 Clement`; Polycarp; Irenaeus | WHO violence and child-maltreatment guidance; CDC child abuse and intimate-partner-violence guidance; National Domestic Violence Hotline safety-planning field sources | Abuse is not a communication problem. Joint conversation, forgiveness language, family privacy, submission language, or restored access must not supersede protection, reporting, consequences, or independently verified fruit. | Covered |
| A child or adult disclosure of abuse requires calm belief, immediate safety assessment, minimal necessary questions, preservation of reporting paths, and qualified local help rather than a household or church investigation. | `DDF § Clinical Reality, Trauma, Addiction, and Anomalous Experience`; `DDF Claim 31`; `docs/resources/trauma-referral-guardrails.md` | Deuteronomy 19; Psalm 82; Ezekiel 34; Mark 10; Romans 13; Greek `martyria`, `phylasso`, `aletheia`, `poimen`; Hebrew `ed`, `mishpat`, `emet`, `shamar` | `Didache`; `1 Clement`; Polycarp | WHO clinical response to child sexual abuse and child maltreatment; CDC youth-serving-organization prevention; SAMHSA trauma-informed guidance | Leaders must know local law and policy before disclosure; confidentiality cannot be promised where reporting or protection duties apply, and the accused person's role must never control the response path. | Covered |
| Household practices and church cohorts require an explicit delivery system: small repeatable practices, role-appropriate adaptations, trained leaders, prebuilt referral paths, disclosure boundaries, and a completion test based on truthful use rather than visible family success. | `DDF § Church, Sacrament, and Embodied Communion`; `DDF Claim 13`; `DDF Claim 28`; `DDF Claim 31`; `DDF Claim 66`; `docs/resources/trauma-referral-guardrails.md` | Deuteronomy 6; Acts 2; Titus 2; Galatians 6; James 5; Greek `ekklesia`, `oikos`, `diakonia`, `paraklesis`, `phylasso` | `Didache`; Justin; Polycarp; `1 Clement` | WHO INSPIRE; CDC prevention guidance; SAMHSA trauma-informed guidance; local safeguarding and reporting rules | Tools serve formation and protection; they are not a diagnostic system, guarantee, substitute for the Church, or replacement for legal, medical, clinical, or emergency authority. | Covered |

## V1 Revision And Derivative Controls

This is the live replacement for the retired line-number source map. Future
work must use stable DDF Claim IDs and named sections in this ledger; never
restore raw DDF or *Rethinking Reality* manuscript line numbers as durable
navigation.

**Intended derivatives:** an eight-session parent cohort; youth-leader
guidance; a household rule-of-life worksheet; a screen and outside-influence
audit; and a crisis, referral, and church-support map. Every derivative must
begin from a covered ledger conclusion. A new theological claim requires the
DDF coverage process before drafting.

**Source-language priorities:** Hebrew `bayit`, `bet av`, `ben`, `yeled`,
`na'ar`, `torah`, `shama`, `lev/levav`, `musar`, and `shalom`; Greek `oikos`,
`oikia`, `teknon`, `paidion`, `paideia`, `pateres`, `miteres`, `adelphoi`,
`agape`, `hypakouo`, and `parorgizo`. Household, parenting, childhood,
discipline, and formation claims must not begin from modern family vocabulary
without checking the biblical-language field.

**DDF spine:** whole-person reception; formation ecology; created channels;
Torah and historical formation; marriage, family, singleness, and household;
education and childhood; CRM as subordinate discernment; clinical limits;
trauma; abuse and protection; and the biblical heart. The corresponding
*Rethinking Reality* themes are purpose and covenant formation, Edenic trust
and limits, formed agency, marriage and household, children observing embodied
adult life, communal transmission, the Church as living body, and biblical
heart language.

**Writing controls:**

- do not make parents sovereign or children passive outcomes;
- do not idealize one household form or make complex households second-class;
- do not use discipleship, privacy, submission, or repair to hide abuse or
  coercion;
- keep practices small enough for exhausted households;
- keep church support joined to home practice; and
- let developmental, clinical, legal, and safeguarding evidence correct unsafe
  factual premises within its competence.

## Reader Glossary Controls

The reader-facing glossary in `books/households-of-formation/main.tex` gives practical handles for ordinary households. These terms must not become techniques or guarantees.

| Reader word | Source-language controls | DDF coverage | Scope limit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Household | Hebrew `bayit`; Greek `oikos`, `oikia`; Deuteronomy 6; Acts household scenes; Ephesians 6 | `DDF § Marriage, Family, Singleness, and Household Formation`; `DDF § Education, Childhood, Apprenticeship, Literacy, and Universities`; household rows above | Household is real but not ultimate; Christ and the Church remain central. |
| Formation | Hebrew `derek`, `torah`, `musar`; Greek `paideia`, `hodos`; Deuteronomy 6; Psalm 78; Ephesians 6 | `DDF § How Created Channels Work`; `DDF Claim 46`; `DDF Claim 66` | Formation is real, but it is not mechanical control. |
| Repair | Greek `metanoia`, `homologeo`, `karpos`; Psalm 51; Matthew 5; Luke 15 | `docs/resources/repair-language-guide.md`; `DDF Claim 66`; `DDF Claim 60` | Repair cannot skip consequences, safety, or changed patterns. |
| Limit | Greek `phylasso`, `paraklesis`; Matthew 18; Galatians 6; 1 Thessalonians 5 | `DDF Claim 28`; `DDF Claim 31` | Limits protect love and responsibility; they are not contempt. |
| Referral | Greek `therapeuo`, `paraklesis`, `soma`; James 5; Luke 10 | `DDF § CRM as a Subordinate Discernment Tool`; `DDF Claim 28`; `docs/resources/trauma-referral-guardrails.md` | Referral is not faithlessness; it recognizes limits and bodily need. |
| Rule of life | Hebrew `derek`, `shalom`; Greek `hodos`, `hypomone`; Deuteronomy 6; Acts 2; Colossians 3 | `DDF § The Formation Ecology in Brief`; `DDF § How Created Channels Work`; `DDF § Marriage, Family, Singleness, and Household Formation` | A rule supports faithfulness; it must not measure a household's worth. |
| Responsibility | Hebrew `lev/levav`, `derek`; Greek `dokimazo`, `paideia`; Proverbs; Luke 2; 1 Timothy 4 | `DDF § Triune Ground and the Human Receiver`; `DDF § Education, Childhood, Apprenticeship, Literacy, and Universities`; `DDF Claim 66`; `DDF Claim 60` | Responsibility is real life before God, not adult-level independence or parent control. |

## Open DDF Requests

None.

## Revision And Failure Conditions

A conclusion in this ledger should be revised, paused, or sent through the DDF
coverage process if any of these happen:

- original-language Scripture work shows the household or child claim was misread;
- the module turns Deuteronomy 6 into isolated parent pressure rather than covenant pedagogy;
- the prose implies faithful parents guarantee faithful children;
- complex households are treated as exceptions to the real Christian family rather than real households under Christ;
- trauma, abuse, disability, mental health, or family crisis is spiritualized without protection or referral;
- DDF coverage is weaker than listed or does not actually cover the topic;
- field research is being used as doctrine rather than as description of current pressures;
- a parent, youth leader, clinician, or safeguarding reviewer identifies a harm risk not handled by the module.

When a conclusion changes, update:

1. this ledger,
2. the affected module or chapter,
3. `docs/research/ddf-coverage-log.md` when the DDF coverage ruling changes,
4. the corresponding public source page under
   https://systemstheology.com/research.

## Website Notes

When this ledger becomes public, shape it by household formation questions rather than by raw bibliography:

- parents and limits,
- children as whole persons,
- home as repeated place of formation,
- church-home formation,
- screens,
- repair and prayer,
- trauma, abuse, and referral,
- complex households,
- source and scope limits.
